In Star Trek, it sometimes sucks to be certian people.
These includes a nameless Red Shirt Ensign, who'd get a possibility of 90% for getting killed in the episode he's introduced. Then there's Mr. Worf, an already strong character getting beaten up by stronger beings. Chief Miles O'Brian in DS9 gets his share of suffering in one or two episodes per season. These are called "O'Brian must suffer!" And they're usually physically or mostly mentally overwhelming to the everyday family man! Ah well!
